Christmas Card 2010

Here's my Christmas card for 2010. I went back to digi scrapping it. Last year's stamped one was too stressful. I like stamping, but not 40 cards all the same right in a row!

Simon Says Stamp and Show ... a Lord Tim of Holtz Technique!

This week at Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge use... a Lord Tim of Holtz Technique!

I really like Tim's Rusted Grunge Technique. I used it on the key hole I cut from some grunge paper with the Hardware Findings die.
I made this clock for Jeff for Christmas. I made it more manly by using photos of our dogs instead of flowers to embellish it. The clock hardware was gold and I recolored it with silver alcohol ink to match the other metal on it.

I also finished my trees!!! I was inspired by Lynne's tree: http://lynneforsythe.blogspot.com/2010/11/had-to-share.html
I used Pine Needles Distress Ink to die the fabric. The "branches" were cut out from the Tattered Leaves die. I had a small piece of green fabric left over from my Halloween costume so some of the branches were cut from that to give a 2 toned color. I really like how they turned out!!

12 tags of christmas...day 5

12 tags of christmas...day 5

I had fun making this tag! I had the metal foliage and some of the inks, otherwise I found some similar items from my stash. The Santa is from Graphics Fairy that I printed onto cardstock. I found the sheet music free online and printed it onto cardstock also.

12 Tags of Christmas

This is my first time following along with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/11/12-tags-of-christmasday-1.html
I'm having so much fun, and learning a lot of new techniques!! Here's my Day 1 Tag:
Day 1
I had some of the stuff Tim used on his tag. I had the distress ink on the tag. I didn't have the house so I made my own and then ran it through the Squares Sizzix Impression Plate to give it texture. I had the Tim Holtz fence die, and covered the grungepaper with Picket Fence Crackle Paint.
I didn't have a wreath, so I made one with the leaves from the bird/branch punch from stamping up, added some Christmas Red Stickles and a bow. I cut the "tree" from a bush in my yard, added Star Dust Stickles and some white glitter ink to it. The ribbon is Martha Stewart.

This is my tag for day 2:

Day 2
I didn't have anything Tim used! I used Faded Jeans, Barn Door, Peeled Paint and Broken China distress inks. The ribbon is Martha Stewart. The stamp is the only one I had that had a evergreen branch on it. I like how it turned out.

Here is day 3:
Day 3
I had to improvise on this one too. The branch stamp is a Tim Holtz one, I didn't have the Tree stamp he used. The bird is a punch from Stampin Up. I used Barn Door, Pine Needles, Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint Distress Inks. I used Tim's Tattered Florals Sizzix Die to made my flower. The brad is Stampin Up.
Day 4
Day 4 Tag:
I didn't have the stuff Tim used, but I found some similar items. I used a oval Fragments piece and tried the tutorial he had on his blog today. I used the alcohol inks first, and then stamped the snowflakes with black Stazon. I couldn't get the Stazon to blot off! Tim used Archival Ink, and I didn't have that so I thought I'd try with the Stazon. Oh well, I like how it turned out anyway. I had some Christmas print cardstock that had a Santa on it so I used that. The swirl is a Tim Holtz stamp. I used some Broken China Distress Stickles on the bottom.

Distress Ink Clock & Christmas Trees

This week for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge ...  Distress Inks! For my project, I made a clock example for the stamp camp I'm teaching next week.
I made some of the grunge paper roses that Lynne is famous for: http://lynneforsythe.blogspot.com/p/tutorials.html
I used Tim Holtz's Distress ink Mulled Lavender, and 2 other inks by Stampin Up.  I also used Distress
Ink Old Paper and Vintage Photo on the clock face.

I also was inspired by Lynne's Christmas Tree http://lynneforsythe.blogspot.com/2010/11/had-to-share.html and made 2 small ones for a couple of my friends.

Hats off to Lynne, I didn't realize how time consuming this project would be!! I still have to finish my tree! I also used the Tattered Florals die to cut the "branches". It took 42 flowers for each tree! AH! My BigShot got a work out on this project! I cheated and didn't color the fabric, I had some left over green fabric. Now I'm out and I still need to cut another 42 more, so I will be coloring those "branches" with Pine Needles Distress Ink. I'll post a photo later when I finish. I really like how they turned out so it was worth all the cutting! I gave them to my friends today and they liked them too!

Grunge Paper Bookmark

I made this bookmark for my sister in law's birthday. She also loves to read. I'm entering the bookmark in this week Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge... Whatever Makes you Happy!
http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2010/11/simon-says-stamp-show-whatever-makes.html  Reading and making things for family and friends makes me happy, so I figure it fits!
I used grunge paper to make the bookmark. It's rather durable so it'll last a bit. I first sprayed the grunge paper with Tattered Angels Glitter Mist in Cosmos and Vintage Pink. The quote stamp is by Tim Holtz and the flower swirl is from Stampin Up. Jill's favorite color is pink so I tied it all in with the pink ribbon on top.

Something Shabby!

This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Something Shabby! http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2010/11/simon-says-stamp-and-show-something.html
I made a journal cover. I've been wanting to do this for sometime now and this was the motivation!
I had a fun time making this! I used so much stuff! I made the flowers from old book pages cut out by Tim Holtz's AWESOME tattered florals and tattered leaves dies. The scallop punch is from Stampin Up. The journal lock is from Zutter. The top cardstock is by Studio Gypsy over at Scrapbook Graphic.com -the kit is called Change of Heart. The bottom card stock is from  Die Cuts with a View Mariposa Stack.
I used Tim Holtz's Altered Metal with Paint technique on the book plate to get a shabby look.
